Co-Parenting Plans

I prefer to make the assumption that parents are the most qualified people to make decisions about the needs of their children and their well being. In times of conflict, making these kinds of decisions can be challenging.

Caring for children has a physical, emotional and financial impact and parenting plans require a holistic approach to meet these needs. You both want the best for your children, but you may disagree on what that means. My role in this process is to facilitate a dialogue between both parents and explore options and solutions for accommodating the needs of children and each parent.

Division of Assets

California is a community property state, as such, under California’s community property laws, assets and debts spouses acquired during marriage belong equally to both spouses, and they must divide them equally in divorce.

I will guide you through the initial process of gathering financial information and offer referrals to neutral financial experts in areas such as tax laws, investment distributions, or forensic accounting if needed in order to establish a comprehensive understanding of all points of discussion.  From this vantage realistic and equitable solutions can be explored with mutual trust.

Divorce and Legal Separation

We work with all families and couples in both conventional and non-conventional relationships and domestic partnerships. The process includes mediation sessions, preparation of court documents and a final settlement agreement to be submitted to obtain a final decree of divorce or legal separation.

In our first session we identify issues that need discussing and are most urgent, so we can determine what information needs to be gathered and shared. Moving forward, we’ll explore creative solutions for compromise on various issues to come to agreements that meet the needs of both parties. Key to determining the length of the process are 1) the complexity of the issues and 2) the ability of each party to be flexible as they work out a fair agreement.

Co-parenting is not a competition, it’s a collaboration of two homes working together with the best interests of the children at heart.
