Mediation Over Litigation

Relationships are often shattered by the adversarial nature of litigation. Mediation takes personal relationships into account, and can help couples better understand each other and work together to bridge a long-term relationship. It’s essential for couples with children. No matter the age of your child, you’ll be a part of their lives forever.
Allowing a third party of litigators to determine the future of your family structure may not have the most desirable outcome. Resolutions derived through the mediation process are usually more acceptable to both parties, because participants are an integral part of creating solutions to their issues.

• Mediation is less expensive — about 10% of the cost of litigation. And litigation could take 3-4 years to get a final court date.

• Mediation is less adversarial then conventional litigation.

• In Mediation you are in control of your choices and solutions.

• Mediation is completely protected, because your discussions are confidential and mediators are under confidentiality and immune from court subpoena.

• Settlement agreements reached through mediation more fairly reflect the unique aspects of your family or your culture.

Divorce Mediation

Divorce mediation can be highly emotional as families struggle with fear, grief and anger at the changes that are taking place in their lives. The ability to be flexible, make compromises, and communicate effectively can be diminished by these overwhelming and valid emotions.

As a trained mediator I use my skills to recognize these conflicts and utilize various communication techniques to facilitate the resolution process. I take a position of positive neutrality, which allows my continued effort to fully understand each party without negating the other. This is a Win-Win approach that allows room for mutual understanding and collaborative solutions.
